To accidentally expose an object or part of an object
momentarily during a secret move.
For example, care must be taken not to "flash" a coin
palmed in your hand when performing your effect.
Â
IMPROMPTU TRICK
An effect that can be performed at a moment's notice, usually with everyday objects that you can borrow, and little or no preparation.
The classic "coin from behind their ear" is a good example.
Â
SILK
Magicians' jargon for "silk handkerchief".
Though most silks are actually made of 100% silk,
the phrase is sometimes used to describe any type of
ordinary cloth.
100% silk handkerchiefs are often used by magicians because
the cloths can be compressed down to a very tiny size,
making it easier to hide in the hand or inside equipment.
Silk also takes color very well, so the silks can be vibrant.
